AIESEC Exchange

How about…

Relevant work experience abroad?

100 different countries to choose from?

4 different types of internship possibilities?

Duration of internship from 2 to 18 months?

Ready social networks and support all the way?

Got interested? This is AIESEC Exchange…

What is AIESEC Exchange? How does it work?

AIESEC Exchange is a unique work abroad program, which offers the AIESEC members high quality internships. What you need is an open mind, 150 study points and an age under 30 years old.

The basic idea is that the AIESEC committees in each country raise jobs for the AIESEC members coming from other countries. The jobs are collected in an international database, limited to the use of AIESEC trainees and the people involved in the process. Once you have been accepted to the program you have 6 months to find yourself a place.

The internships

The program offers you 4 different types of work opportunities, depending on your field of study and previous experience:

Management Internship provides the opportunity to work in areas related to management, such as finance, accounting, marketing, project management, organizational management or human resources.

Development Internship provides the opportunity to work in areas related to community development issues, such as children’s rights, environmental issues, education, rural development and entrepreneurship.

Technical Internship provides the opportunity to work in areas related to information technology or engineering projects. Technical skills, experience and expertise are required to participate in this type of internship.

Education Internship provides the opportunity to work in areas related to education, such as teaching a language, teaching a subject, curriculum development, character development, career counseling, cultural interaction and perspective promotion in academic fields or sectors. You must have academic and working backgrounds in the field of education.

The Support

AIESEC as an organization is there to support you throughout your experience. In Finland you will take part in a preparation seminar. We will help you in the application process, in the general preparations and in finding the suitable job.

In your destination you will be welcomed by AIESEC members, who will help you with the local procedures. You don’t have to worry about spending your time alone; the AIESEC members are there for you. Besides the social network, the local AIESEC may prove very valuable in case you ran into any problems at your destination, which of course is unwished for…

And once you come back to Finland, you have naturally the opportunity to go through and share your experience with your own local AIESEC committee. This will help you to complete your AIESEC Experience.

What makes the program so unique?

The Variety: The program offers altogether thousands of possibilities for internationally orientated young people. The classification of internships makes it easier to find the job just for you.

The Quality: The internships raised by AIESEC are actual jobs and provide relevant work experience. The application process ensures mutual benefit for the trainees as well as the employers.

The Support: AIESEC guarantees you support from the moment you apply to the moment you return from your internship. Besides the actual support, the social network provided by the local AIESEC members at the destination has proven incredibly valuable to the about 4.000 AIESEC trainees, who go through the program every year.

The Cost: 150 €. AIESEC is an organization completely voluntarily ran by students and this keeps the costs low.

The Salary: You will receive a salary for each internship, except for the Development Internship. The salary depends on the job.

International AIESEC conference in Greece 14.-18.11.!

This November I was more than thrilled to travel to Greece to take part in one of the biggest international conferences of the year. It was called WeGrow and it gathered almost 200 people from Western Europe and North America. The idea of the conference was to gather the board members of AIESEC together to learn and network. From Finland there were 13 of us from 6 different local offices.

wegrow-1107-045.jpg

What did we do there? Well, almost all of us went there beforehand to see the lovely city of Athens and to test the amazing Greek food. The actual seminar started on Wednesday the 14th with a massive open to public Global Village (=a platform for different countries to present their culture and food). It included lots of enthusiasm from organisers and participants and also many girls loving Finland and especially Ville Valo.

wegrow-1107-130.jpg

From Thursday to Sunday we were in a really nice hotel near the sea and Athens. In the agenda there were plenty of learning about the realities of each AIESEC country, how to improve your own country and also what’s happening right now globally. We also had cool sessions for instance on how to lead your team, how to mange conflict, how to build better team spirit and so on. All in all I learned loads.

wegrow-1107-194.jpg

Still what was definitely the best part of the conference were the people. Imagine almost 200 people from 23 countries all having something in common, all wanting to get new friends and all being open to try out new things. This cannot lead to anything else but a great atmosphere and loads and loads of fun. In AIESEC we really execute the saying: Work hard, party harder!

- VP HRD Kira Anttila

Memories from Turkey

Wanna know how a really big international conference looks like? Here it is - AIESEC’s International Congress 2007 in Istanbul!

ACCESS 2007 was a success!

access-2007-group.JPG

The delegation of AIESEC-KY has returned from Oulu, where this year’s ACCESS seminar was held. The seminar is intended for new members of AIESEC, exchange participants and board members as well, basically for everybody in AIESEC.

The seminar consisted of training in different areas of AIESEC, for example human relations and outgoing exchange. We also had guest speakers from companies telling us about intercultural communication among other topics. Special attention was given to planning next year: AIESEC’s 60th birthday! The nights were reserved for parties, of course.

Seminars are a good way to develop your skills in different functional areas, as well as to get to know other people in AIESEC. Though the seminar was far away in Oulu, some of the participants and organisers came from countries like Belgium, France, Bulgaria, Germany and Czech Republic. In addition, we had some of the trainees currently working in Finland participating in the seminar.
